After Delivery Checklist: What to Do?

Once you receive your car after transport, perform a quick on-site inspection of the vehicle in the driver's presence.

1. Conduct Detailed Inspection

First, inspect the vehicle for any dents, scratches, or paint damage that was not there when it was picked up. This is especially important for the rooftop and undercarriage. 

2. Perform Functional Checks

Check if your car starts well. Look for any leaks. Check the tire pressure. In addition, ensure that all fluids are at the right levels.

3. Clean the Car

Your car had been on a long journey. If it were transported in an open truck, there could be a lot of dust on it. Clean it up before use.

4. Check Keys and Personal Items

Upon delivery, get the keys you gave to the driver. In addition, check for the missing items that were in the car at the time of shipping.

5. Sign the BOL

After you have completed a satisfactory inspection of the vehicle, sign the bill of lading. If there are any issues, point them out immediately and contact our claims department.

Things to Know Before Shipping a Car to Washington

You Have 30 Days to Register After Becoming a Resident

If you relocate to Washington permanently, you are required to get a Washington state driver's license and register your car within 30 days of residency. Failure to do so will incur fines and penalties.

You Have 15 Days to Transfer Title

If you purchase or receive a car in Washington, you must transfer the title to your name within 15 days of the purchase or gift date. Failure to do so will incur late fees:

$50 on the 16th day

$2 per day thereafter (capped at $125)

Liability Insurance Is Mandatory

Washington state mandates that drivers carry minimum liability insurance:

$25,000 bodily injury liability per person

$50,000 bodily injury liability per accident

$10,000 property damage liability

You must have this insurance available whenever you drive the vehicle within the state.

Emissions Testing Is No Longer Required

Washington state discontinued its vehicle emissions testing program in 2020. Most drivers do not need to pass an emissions test for vehicle registration. However, some vehicles are compulsory to meet the Clean Car requirements before they can be registered.
